Bamboo Sizing & Fit Guide
A little guidance for finding a comfortable fit in Nora Jo Co’s bamboo sleepwear. Fit varies by brand, style and fabric blend; there is no single “runs small” or “size up” rule.
Start with the size label
NB means newborn; M means months; T means toddler; Y means years. Labels such as 0–3M, 3–6M, 6–12M, 12–18M and 18–24M describe age ranges, not guaranteed body measurements. Combined labels such as 2/3T or 4/5Y are the maker’s size names, not a promise of fit throughout that entire age range. Check the exact product’s options: some listings switch from a one-piece romper to a two-piece set at larger sizes.
Snug, not restrictive
Always follow the garment’s safety label. Sleepwear labeled “Wear snug-fitting. Not flame resistant” must fit snugly: loose-fitting garments are more likely to catch fire. Do not choose an oversized fit for extra growing room when the garment requires a snug fit. Check that your child can move comfortably and that the neckline, cuffs and waistband sit securely without digging in. This guide does not replace the garment’s label or establish that a particular style meets sleepwear safety requirements.
Stretch and measurements
Many of our bamboo styles contain spandex for stretch, but stretch does not make sizes interchangeable or guarantee extra months of wear. We have not yet verified sample measurements, so we are not publishing garment dimensions, height/weight limits, stretch percentages or shrinkage promises.
For a useful comparison, lay a well-fitting garment flat without stretching it and note chest width (underarm to underarm), shoulder-to-hem length, sleeve length, waist width and inseam. For one-pieces, also note shoulder-to-crotch length and whether feet are enclosed. Compare only with verified measurements for the same brand, style and size; flat garment widths are not body circumferences.
Between sizes?
Do not automatically size up or down. Use the maker’s verified chart when available and check both body length and width. If the smaller size pulls at the crotch, zipper or toes, or the larger size hangs loosely where a snug fit is required, choose another cut rather than forcing either fit. Ask us about the exact style and size before ordering if you are unsure. Knotted gowns have a different cut; use their own maker’s guidance rather than pajama fit advice.
Care to preserve fit
Follow the sewn-in care label first. Where the maker permits, wash cold on a gentle cycle with like colors and mild detergent. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners. Air-dry when permitted, or tumble dry on low if the label allows; avoid high heat. Recheck fit after washing and as your child grows. Care needs vary by style, and we do not guarantee zero shrinkage.
